From your head, shoulders, knees and toes (knees and toes). The potential dangers of Overuse Injury or RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury)

Laptops, our newest best friends as of late can be quite sinister. For as much as we love them and they love us they can be quite the pain (literally), this is because they are responsible for more than just the occasional headache . Yes - I am talking about you Mr. ergonomics - for you see posture has always been a vital aspect when growing up - I mean remember the whole decent table manners sit up straight, elbows of the table etc. etc. - turns out Mum wasn't that just saying that to pester you but it was actually important for your body so you wouldn't grow up and turn into a Quasimodo.

''throw away your laptop right now''

Yet nowadays we seem to have forgotten about the whole proper posture situation or at least when we are using a laptop or desktop computer. And to make it worse it is not actually damage that you can easily detect but will notice at some point in the near future. But I am not here to tell you that you should throw away your laptop right now! Instead I want to re-educate you on the basics of ergonomics (you can thank me later).

> Your knees should be no less than 90 degrees, same as your elbows

> Feet flat on the floor or on a foot rest

> Your back straight and supported

Avoid using your laptop on your lap even though the name itself implies it, it is actually bad for your neck while getting all the previous mentioned ergonomics completely wrong (plus for all the men out there it damages your clockwork). If you don't like to sit all day long then perhaps try a standing desk, these are desks which are way taller than a regular desk and might even be preferred to some.
